Majówka in Poland

Majówka is a Polish holiday. It can be translated as May-day picnic. We celebrate it on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May. On these three days whole families with friends go to parks and spend time together. They are talking, eating ice-creams – just having fun.

1st of May – Święto Pracy (Labour Day) is a free of work day. It has been a public holiday in Poland since 1950.

2nd of May – Dzień Flagi Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej (Polish Flag Day) isn’t a free of work day, but most companies let workers not to go to work. We celebrate this holiday since 2004.

3rd of May – Święto Konstytucji Trzeciego Maja (May 3rd Constitution Day) is a public holiday. This day is free of work. On 3rd May 1791 the first constitution in Europe and the second on the world (the first was in America) was passed. This holiday was established in 1919 and again in 1990.
